Abstract
|
|
|
Congenital atresia of the colon is very rare anomaly, which occur in about 10¡Æ% of the cases of intestinal atresia.
Symptoms are failure to pass meconium, followed by abdominal distension and vomiting of bile stained material.
Diagnosis is aided by plain films of abdomen in the decubitus and upright position., and contrast .studies of the distal colon.
Resection of the bind dilated proximal bowel and end-to-end- anastomosis is preferable no matter where the lesion is situated.
One case of congenital atresia of colon was treated by resection and end-to-end anastomosis at Seoul National University Hospital and reviewed.
